This last installment was written by my husband, Caloy, on the occasion of Bea’s first birthday. It came with a Bible for Toddlers book. My husband is normally not very vocal about his faith, which is why this letter is exceptionally wonderful.

My dearest Bea,
On this, your first birthday, allow me to give you this gift which I hope you will get to appreciate as you grow older.
This Book contains many beautiful stories about faith and love, values which one does not get to see too often anymore in people. I shall look forward to listening to your Mommy as she reads these stories to you, in her own inimitable manner, in the evenings before bedtime. I am confident that, someday, you shall grow up to be a good Christian, like your Mommy and your Lola. May the tales found in this Book help you get to know and love our Lord.
I pray that I shall be a good father to you, as your Lolo and the Lord have been to me. I shall always love you and take care of you and endeavor to teach you all that a father needs to share with his child. I shall do this with the strength and wisdom one can get only from our Lord.
Allow me also to thank you and the Lord for the blessing that is you — your disarming smile, your discordant melodies as you fall asleep, your delightful mischief, your rare kisses and hugs, your impatient appetite. Your Mommy, Ate Cara and I have become a happier family because of you and we all thank you, our little one.
I love you so much, my little butchokoy! Have a happy birthday, my darling!
