Last Valentine’s Day, I opened my eyes and saw my sleeping eight-month-old baby Isabella beside me and I smiled. It was her very first Valentine’s Day and she inspired me to write this love letter.
Happy Valentine, my Love!
Waking up every morning to see you cuddled up beside me is such a wonderful blessing. I could just watch you sleep for hours — you are so beautiful, my baby — and feel the warmth of sunshine in my heart. And that does not even come close to describing how I truly feel about you.
I love you because you have your Daddy’s adorable little eyes. I love your incredibly tiny lips, your charming “chinny-chin-chin,” your stubby but cute fingers and toes, and your soft, delicate, sweet-scented skin. Best of all, I love the way you smile. Your eyes are reduced to tiny slits, your dimples appear, and your nose crinkles up as you break into a wide, mischievous smile. Ahh… sheer joy!
Although I must admit that taking care of you can be physically exhausting (I mean, really!), remember that I will never tire of loving you. And even though I somehow miss the routine of working in an office, nothing beats giving you a warm bath in the morning or changing your diaper or watching your favorite Sesame Street with you.
You make me want to be the best mother I could possibly become. I promise to do everything I can to nurture you, guide you, mold you and help you grow up to be a beautiful person inside as well as outside. Now that I think about it, I believe that is my preordained mission in life.
I thank the Lord everyday because of you. My life wasn’t a bed of roses. I have been through a lot of pain and suffering, but I’m willing to go through all that again if only for you.
The Book of Psalms says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” [37:4] You, my sweet angel, are the ultimate fulfillment of my heart’s desires. You are the sum of all my hopes and dreams. You are the single most precious gift I have ever had — the perfect proof of God’s goodness in my life. To you I can honestly and sincerely say that famous line from a movie, “You complete me.” I cannot imagine me without you. I love you so much, Bea!Mommy February 14, 2005
