What made Bea’s 9th birthday even more memorable, apart from her videoke playdate with friends, was our overnight stay at Hotel Celeste — a posh boutique hotel in Makati with one-of-a-kind rooms that combine sophistication and utmost comfort. Its modern European-inspired interior design and furnishings are truly awe-inspiring. The word “opulent” easily comes to mind.
Our hotel stay was actually a prize from a facebook photo contest hosted by Outback Steakhouse Philippines a few months back. I was one of the 3 winners of a suite accommodation at Hotel Celeste. What an enormous blessing! I’m so glad we were able to book a suite in time for Bea’s birthday. I’ve heard about the Queen Isabella Suite before, so I specifically asked to reserve that particular room because the birthday girl’s name is Isabella.
There are only 5 suites in the 4-story boutique hotel, and each one is unlike all the others in terms of design. The 60-square-meter suite offers the absolute convenience of a dining area, a kitchen sink with a microwave oven and a full-size refrigerator, spacious bathroom and closet, free wireless internet service, LCD TV and 2 air-conditioning units. It’s one fabulous home away from home.
Another thing to love about Hotel Celeste is its prized location. It’s within walking distance from Greenbelt and just minutes away from other major shopping centers in Makati.
We initially planned on having Bea’s birthday lunch at the hotel’s restaurant but when we checked in, the restaurant was closed for renovation. We learned that the hotel is under new management, thus some repairs and changes are underway. When we went downstairs for breakfast the following day, the restaurant was completely finished. That was really fast! However, I remember the old restaurant to be more charming and more intricate than this new one.
The breakfast fare wasn’t something to rave about, but the service was delightful despite the fact the we were non-paying guests. We wanted to order an extra breakfast for Bea so that we could pay for something, at least. But the waiter insisted on giving our Bea a plateful of pancakes and bacon at no extra cost and even delivered it to our room. Now that’s great (room) service!
I would definitely recommend Hotel Celeste to those looking for a unique and glamorous hotel room experience. The published rates are quite steep but the hotel usually has promotional offers that slash 40% off its regular prices. Visit its website for promo updates: http://www.hotelceleste.ph/
